Canyon Grigno - Apocalipse Now

Grigno (TN)

Few other places combine sport and beauty in such abundant equal measure. In fact, the Grigno represents an authentic journey to the Center of the Earth, a visit to the underworld to be feared and respected and to be able to grasp in the few moments in which this canyon allows itself to be visited.

Since the minimum vital release in the streams downstream of the artificial basins of the Province of Trento has increased by law, the Grigno has released an average of 3000 liters per second, a flow rate to discourage any common sense canyoneer. For this reason, in the spring of 2021 it was funded by the pertinent municipalities a total re-equipment of the gorge, carried out by the Alpine Guides of the Canyon of Dolomites, which had seen most of the anchorages destroyed following the Vaia storm event. Now the canyon allows access to those with great experience in acceptable safety even with medium-abundant flow rates.

To be able to travel it, in fact, one must have great experience in equipping long exposed handrails, lowering with positioning of diverters and above all familiarity with cableways and closed circuits in super abundant flows. Having said that, the journey through this spectacle of nature will leave you speechless and the experience will remain etched in your memory forever!
